Yesterday I got to play for almost
the whole day in the garden.
There were chillies to harvest.
Globe artichokes to cut.
{I let this one flower first because
it is just SO pretty!}
Hedges to clip.
Sunny spots to bask in.
Happy~face flowers to say hello to.
Beds to weed,
especially after all the rain!
Roses to pick, to arrange in milk bottles...
and to dry with cinnamon sticks
for pot pourri bowls.
And in the afternoon,
as a reward, it was just beautiful
to stretch out by the pool...
And enjoy a moment in the autumn sun,
dining al fresco!

What a wonderful way to spend a day! If that is your backyard, its simply gorgeous - i'd be blissfully happy to spend an entire weekend in it. I'm happy to say today is the first day of Spring here in Canada (Yay!) and I see evidence of tulips and daffodils poking thru the ground. Let the gardening begin : ))

The groovy kidney shaped pool goes with the 1970s origins of the house, so I have re-designed the garden around the same organic shapes. The climate in Melbourne is great for gardening, although you never know when the sun will shine like it did this weekend. Make hay while it does!

In Calif. we are in Spring or at least trying to be Spring, lots of rain going on right now but I think it will make for happy plants later in the season.
