Blue Fruit is an interior, building & landscape design studio
in Melbourne, Australia, run by Virginia Blue, the editor of this blog.
Yep, that's my real name!
And Glamour Drops are those precious elements
which take the everyday into the exceptional.
It may be a beautiful interior, a fabulous flower,
the cut of an elegant suit, or the twirl of a sparkling gown,
a rustic old bridge or a glorious sunset.
It may be finely designed, or it may be nature at her finest.
They are the elements which make us
stop for a moment, to enjoy the beauty, to savour that moment.
They are the drops of glamour which make life sparkle.
A little more about me...
I am a designer, who lives, breathes & dreams design.
I am a designer, who lives, breathes & dreams design.
After 15 years working for large architectural firms
{having studied a BA Interior Design
+ a BA Communication Studies first},
designing commercial & retail projects,
{like gaols, shopping centres, universities, railway stations & law courts}
I figured it would be a fun challenge to design homes
for people who wanted something individual.
So I set up blue fruit, a studio which allows me to do just that.
I have been lucky enough
to have lived & worked in many cities
of Australia, as well as London.
Melbourne is my current home,
chosen for it's vibrant design & arts culture.

As you can probably tell from the gorgeous things
on this blog, I adore vintage as well as modern design,
and my projects reflect that.

As you can probably tell from the gorgeous things
on this blog, I adore vintage as well as modern design,
and my projects reflect that.
Occasionally, I post about my own projects on Glamour Drops
(like all the images on this page)
but most of the time,
it is more about discussing those elusive elements
which make up glamour.
You will notice there is no advertising or sponsorship here.
I blog because it is a way of expressing my thoughts,
and I find the feedback very useful in keeping my (often rambling)
design thoughts in order.

A little more about my home...
When there is a spare minute or two,
I can be found renovating my 1971 post & beam house in
one of Melbourne's garden suburbs by the bay.
This is the 10th house I have renovated,
but possibly my favourite.
With a large garden,
I can grow my beloved veggies & herbs,
because I love to cook, and entertaining is a big part of our lives.
(That's also the reason you will find various recipes on this blog.)
Most Saturday mornings are spent pottering around
in the garden, picking flowers for the house.
Is there anything more relaxing?
Oh well, possibly a cocktail or two on the terrace with friends!
Hmm, and what else?
I have 3 children, an opinionated Rainbow Lorrikeet
(who has a serious addiction to coffee)
& a very patient husband
& a very patient husband
who puts up with my constant furniture re-arranging.
Without too much complaint...
So if you love
glamorous, stylish & eccentric design,
you will hopefully find something in these pages
to inspire you.
There's a bit of interior design + architecture,
a bit of vintage + current fashion,
and quite a lot of rambling!
Join in the conversation & leave me a comment
on anything you find interesting - for that is the joy of blogging.
And if you are about to embark on the exciting journey
of renovation or a new build,
and would like my help in making it your own glamorous abode,
drop me an email and let's talk.
